Assalammu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu,

I hope this letter reaches you in the best of health and strongest of emaan, ameen.

A new email account has been set up to help us all to write to Muslims in prison. All we need to do is write a general letter addressing the brothers and sisters in prison showing our support, concern and willingness to help them and their families. You can also share with them any knowledge you may have gained about Islam to benefit them, insha allah.

All you need to do is write a letter [in the a Microsoft Word document] and send it as an attachment to this email: muslimprisoners@hotmail.co.uk. We will then print out your letter, address it to the 50 Muslims [brothers letters going to brothers and sisters letters going to sisters] on our database and then post it out. If the letters are written by a family e.g. husband & wife then we will post the letters to all the brothers and sisters on our list. Once the brothers and sisters reply to your letter and mention you by name, we can then inform you via email [and maybe scan the letter and send it to you as an email insha Allah]

If you put your own address on the letters that is you prerogative – by doing so you can receive direct replies to your letters. However, if you do not wish to provide your own address, then we will be more than willing to adopt that responsibility insha Allah.

You can donate money, postal orders, postal stamps, original nasheed CD’S and Quranic recitation, books clothes and so on.

Message from HHUGS: Write to the detainees

Please write to the prisoners in the UK. Some have been detained for over 13 years, without ever being charged or undergoing any trial. Others were later released under control orders and forcibly relocated far away from their families in remote parts of the UK; or released on bail conditions, more stringent than control orders. Some face the threat of deportation to their home countries where they may face detention and torture, others face extradition to the US where their human rights may be breached by life imprisonment in solitary confinement in a supermax facility.
